TL DR Lenovo Vantage wifi security "detects" malicious activity on %_NETWORK_% even when wifi security is turned off, then says it will turn the wifi security off and doesn't do it if it was on. Decided to uninstall Vantage and reinstall it through the Microsoft Store.įourth day (today). That means that for some reason i get wifi security notifications about malicious activity despite it being turned off.
Checked the vantage app, the wifi security is off, just as I left it the day before. So I turned it off to see what happens the next day. I open the vantage app, and despite this notification, wifi security was still on. Second day the notifications popped up again, first one about the activity, second one about wifi security being turned off. I turned off my wifi again and reconnected through cable. I also tried to connect to my home network through wifi, and the wifi security said that my network is fine. I decided to check the wifi security settings and it was turned off, so i turned it on.
The pair of notifications pop up always once per day.įirst day it happened i immediately disconnected my ethernet cable and ran a Malwarebytes rootkit scan in safe mode, just to be sure, it detected nothing. The only way to connect to it is via ethernet cable. My laptop is used only at my home and has wifi completely turned off. The thing is, the name of the network is %_NETWORK_%, a network i've never connected to. One about a potential malicious activity on a network, and one about my wifi security being turned off (I never turned it on to begin with). For the past 4 days i've been getting 2 lenovo vantage notifications.
